EarthReheal works in most countries. It's the same app from the App Store or Google Play, and the country you pick when you first open it decides how it works. This page is for everyone who picks a country other than India. The story behind it explains why we built it this way.

Do I need an account?

No. Choose your country, confirm you are 18 or over, read a short declaration, and start. You can add a first name so the app can greet you; it stays on your phone. There is no email, password or phone number to give.

If you pick India, you get the full app with an account instead, because it connects to local collectors, buyers and city services. See Getting started.

What's in the app?

WhereWhat you can do
HomeYour carbon footprint, Green Coach, Carbon Analytics, challenges, green actions, cleanup drives and other events, and reminders
Day logRecord today's trips, meals and green actions, including flights
LearnShort lessons on energy, heating, travel, food, water, plastics and everyday habits, games and a daily climate fact
MeYour plan, travel, how we calculate, backups, and Erase everything

Selling scrap, donating to partners, the Neighbours board, reports to your city, the segregation guide and the Green Impact Score depend on local partners and rules in India, so they aren't in the app outside India.

How is my footprint worked out?

Each part of your footprint starts from the average person in your country, and every answer you give replaces an average with your own figure. Electricity uses your country's grid. Fuel, travel and flight factors come from the UK Government's 2026 conversion factors. Distances are shown in miles or kilometres, depending on your country.

Where a country has no detailed published figures of its own, the app borrows the pattern of the nearest country that does and scales it to how much people in your country consume. Me → How we calculate shows exactly which figures your estimate uses, with sources.

Your plan compares your footprint with the 1.5 °C path for 2030, 2040 and 2050. Trips and green actions you log are shown as offset next to your footprint, never subtracted from it. The offset is a tally of your own actions, not a carbon credit.

How do cleanup drives work without an account?

Through links you share yourself, usually into a group chat you already use.

  1. Create a cleanup, a tree planting, a recycling drive, an awareness camp or another event, then share the invite.
  2. People who open it reply Going, Maybe or Can't. Their app gives them a reply link to send back to you, and the count on your phone updates when you open it.
  3. If you change the time or cancel, share the update the same way.
  4. On the day, people check in by scanning a QR code on your phone. No signal is needed.
  5. Afterwards, share the results. Everyone sees the group totals next to their own part.

For tree planting, the app reminds you to go back at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months to count how many saplings survived. A drive can repeat weekly or monthly, and you can hand a co-organiser what they need to help run it.

Invites are signed by the organiser's phone, so anyone can create their own event but nobody else can change or cancel yours.

Can I do challenges with friends?

Yes. Start a challenge and tap Invite friends to this challenge to share a link; a friend's app starts its own copy. Friends can send you their progress, and you see a group board built from what they sent, marked as self-reported. You can share the standings back so the whole group sees the same board.

Challenges that need a partner's record, such as a battery drop-off receipt or a collector's segregation rating, are only offered in India. Photo challenges are kept on trust, because no photos are collected.

What leaves my phone?

Only what you choose to share, plus one automatic request: the app checks for updates. That request carries the app version, whether it's an iPhone or an Android phone, and the country you picked. We keep a daily count of app starts by country, and nothing else. The app has no advertising, analytics or tracking tools.

The details of an invite or a reply travel inside the link, in the part after the #. Browsers don't send that part to a server, so even if a friend opens your link on our website, the details don't reach us. Before you share, the app shows what the link contains.

What if I change or lose my phone?

  • Your phone's own backup. If your phone backs up to your Google account or iCloud, EarthReheal's data is included, and a new phone set up from that backup opens the app with everything in place.
  • A backup file. This works between Android and iPhone. Send the file to your new phone, or save it to your own cloud folder or email. You can protect it with a passphrase. If you forget the passphrase, the file can't be opened.

How do I delete everything?

Erase everything on this phone in the Me tab removes all of your EarthReheal data and reminders from the phone in one step. There is nothing to delete anywhere else.
