Cleanup drives are the most visible thing a neighbourhood can do together. The app makes them easy to organise and easy to find.
Who organises them?
Anyone can. Events in the app come from two kinds of organiser:
- Citizens like you, who spot a littered park, a choked drain or a dumped corner and rally their neighbours.
- NGOs registered on EarthReheal. Their events are labelled as NGO events, and you can follow an NGO to hear about its next one.
Events can be cleanups, plantation drives, recycling drives, awareness camps or other community activities.
Can I start one?
Yes, and it takes a few minutes.
You'll need:
- a photo of the site, or a leaflet for the event;
- a short description of what needs doing;
- the date and start time;
- the address, and the location pinned on the map.
You can also say who the event suits, list what people should bring, add safety notes, set a participant limit and share a WhatsApp group link for coordination. Your event is published straight away, and people in your ward or city who have event alerts switched on are notified.
Finding and joining one
Open Cleanliness drives. Upcoming lists events in your area, My Registrations shows the ones you've responded to, and Created by me shows your own.
Tap an event to see the details, then choose Yes — I will participate or Decide later. You'll get a reminder the day before and on the morning of the event. When you arrive, tap Check in so the organiser knows you came. Some NGO events also offer registration on the organiser's own website.
Does taking part count?
A cleanup is hard to convert fairly into kilograms of CO₂e, so attending one doesn't change your offset. The time you spend on it does, though: log your cleanup minutes on the Day log as a green initiative. Checked-in events also count towards the Cleanup contribution challenge if you're running it.
